Datca
Old and New Datca
Over the years, Datca has grown to be a chic, cosmopolitan resort. There is a greatchoice of restaurants serving the very best of local produce along the natural harbour. Datça is famous for three things: honey, almonds and fish. All three are well worth a try. Look out for the delicious almond coffee and treat yourself! The resort is uncrowded and unspoilt by mass tourism. The surrounding landscape is breathtaking, punctuated by a few small pretty whitewashed villages. Nearby beaches include the pebbly Taslik beach and the sandy Kumluk beach. In recent years Datça has become popular as a windsurfing and kitesurfing. There is also a local dive centre. A wander through the pretty, quaint streets of Datca old town, known as Eski Datça is an absolute must, and the ruins of ancient Knidos are also nearby, where you will find an agora, theatre and temples to Aphrodite and Dionysus. The city was famous for its beautiful statue of Aphrodite by the famous ancient Greek sculptor Praxiteles.
